August 21, 2023 —

We have been busy planning at Hyde Park Lacrosse. We secured fields at Haviland Middle School for a fall ball season in September! We want our players to keep the lacrosse sticks in their hands this fall.

Our practice days for girls and boys lacrosse will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in September. For the girls club, we are also planning to host a fall jamboree/play day with local clubs on Saturday September 30th.

Please get registered for fall lacrosse on our website. As usual, if there are any conflicts with other sports, we are happy to work with you to make it happen.

Let’s get back on the field this September!

BIG NEWS!!

Northern Dutchess Girls Lacrosse is now Hyde Park Lacrosse Club!  Same great experience, with a new expanded mission to prepare our local youth to play at the middle- and high-school level.

The decision to change the name of the club was not taken lightly given the rich history of Northern Dutchess dating back to 2001.  The program will continue to operate in much the same way, but better represents the town in which we are located and our ties to to the school district that provides the facilities where we play. Additionally, it distinguishes us from the Northern Dutchess Boys Lacrosse program with which are not affiliated.  We are considering offering a boys program in the future as well.

Registration for the spring 2023 season is now open.  We are using a new registration system through USA Lacrosse which has a simplified registration experience for our players.  Purchase and renewal of the required USA Lacrosse membership is now integrated into the process, using the same login information you used previously for usalacrosse.com.

Click to register.  Early registration will close 1/15/2023.

What is Lacrosse?

Lacrosse is one of the most exciting sports in existence, and as a result its popularity is growing extremely fast throughout the United States.  Many public-school systems now offer both boys and girls lacrosse programs, and there are numerous town and regional recreation and travel leagues popping up to support the demand.

Lacrosse was invented by the Native Americans in what is believed to be the 12th century. Contests were seen as major event, often taking place over several days.  They were played for recreational and religious reasons, and also to toughen up young warriors for battle.

Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball.  Players use the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the lacrosse ball into the opposing team’s goal.  At the end of the game, the team with the most goals is the winner.
